I’m Mary Stowell. I am a Minnesota based artist, currently residing in Minnetonka with my incredible husband and our sassy kitty cat. I am passionate, driven, a bit awkward, and an absolute dork. I think and live my life outside of the box.

I have been painting independently since April 2014, and have developed a focus in abstract art. My weapons of choice are both oils and acrylics, as well as different forms of paper collage that I use in mixed media pieces.

My artistic journey began during my sophomore year of high school, and I have since taken classes in oil painting, watercolor, jewelry making, and digital photography. I discovered my love for acrylics and mixed media art in an open studio painting course that I took during my freshman year of college.

In addition to my work as an artist I volunteer as a political activist for Planned Parenthood and as a crisis counselor for Crisis Text Line. Both organizations and their causes are extraordinarily important to me, and I am honored to be a part of the work that they are doing in our community.

My favorite hobbies are reading, cooking, and video games. You can usually find me covered in paint, snuggling with my cat, buried in a book, dancing around my kitchen, or mixed up in a pleasant combination of any of these arrangements.
